Watermelon Radish Merino Solo Light

Merino Solo Light is 475 yds (433 m) / 110 g of 100% SW Merino spun in a slinky light fingering one ply.  It knits up at 30 - 36 sts over 10 cm (4") on 3 mm (US 2) needles. 

Chartruese with a bright splash of cheeriest prettiest pink.  Often times green and pink are quite difficult to dye together.  As complements on the color wheel they tend to muddy up when they meet and turn rancid looking.  I took some fiddly precautions here though and look at the close up of the transitions!  Pretty and clear and no grey brown in sight!!  This will knit up perfectly in a project meant for deliberate stacking or microstriping or throw caution to the wind and let the pink show up wherever it deigns. Such happy colors!!

The drape of this slightly rustic light fingering yarn is excellent, it takes dye beautifully but it’s single ply structure will pill and show wear under heavy use so choose UltraSock, Sock or Sock Light for children’s and hard-wearing items and save these slightly larger 110 g skeins for those items that will be cared for and cherished.  For luxury single ply check out the Extrafine Merino Solo base yarn.  This yarn can be machine washed, delicate cycle and dried on low heat but we opt to hand wash in cool water and lay flat to dry.  Please email for assistance and check out the base yarn page.
